Nu'uanu Pali State Wayside Lookout & Ko'olau Summit Trail (Pali Puka)

While my brother was in town I found this hike on the All Trails app. It's right off the Pali HWY (HWY 61) in Oahu. I have lived here for over two years and have never heard of this place. It was a quick drive from where I live in Honolulu, maybe about 20 mins. There is a parking lot where you have to pay through a mobile app. We walked up to the lookout at first to check out the scene and it did not disappoint. The wind was insane though. I'm not sure if it was because we went during the winter months (January) or if it was just that day but the winds were screaming. After checking out the lookout and taking a few pics, we ventured to the trail. Unbeknownst to me the trail was in fact marked as closed. So we did what any self respecting adventurer would do and that was look around to make sure no-one was watching and sneak past the sign. The view was insane. Because we had the kiddos and the wind was so strong we didn't go all the way. I will definitely have to revisit and conquer this insane hike.
